Tidbit #26: vBulletin 3.7

Tidbits Add comments

If you haven’t known already, vBulletin 3.7 is in beta form and is being tested.  I would like to tell you when I will upgrade the forum to 3.7.

I have heard of many forums who thought about upgrading to 3.7 Beta but decided against it because of the bugs and general instability.  I agree with them.  I want the forum to be as stable as possible.  I only add modifications when they will noticeably benefit the user experience.  I have relatively few modifications installed, so the forum is generally more faster and secure compared to others with more modifications installed.

That said, I will wait until vBulletin 3.7 is officially released before upgrading the forum.  I intend to do a clean install and then import the data.  Then, I will install the previous modifications if they have 3.7 versions.  I intend on keeping PostReboot as the default skin, with the default vBulletin style an option.

Lastly, I will do some things to spice up the forum; maybe add a modification or two, maybe even start a contest for V.I.M membership or hosting.  vBulletin 3.6.8 works great as the forum software, and I will continue to use it until 3.7 is officially released.
